From the current selection the following players could without any problem play in midfield (most have already played as midfielder or will play in the future): Riechedly Bazoer, Donny van de Beek, Nemanja Gudelj, Frenkie de Jong, Davy Klaassen, Abdelhak Nouri, Jairo Riedewald, Lasse Schöne, Thulani Serero, Daley Sinkgraven, Nick Viergever and new acquisition Hakim Ziyech.
