Solidarity Contribution Overview

Solidarity Contribution Overview

08/12/2014

Eventhough it is often called training compensation, the amount that clubs that were involved with the training of a player receive when a transfer takes place is based on a FIFA rule with the name solidarity contribution (not to be confused with the training compensation, which is an amount that needs to be paid to the training clubs the moment a player signs his first contract). The solidarity contribution only is applicable with cross border transfrs, because this FIFA regulation is only applicable in this situation. For transfers within a single country the national soccer assocation's regulations apply, which in most cases do not have a similar compensation (The Dutch soccer assocation is an exception). The rule is that 5% of the total transfer amount is subtracted and will be divided between the clubs for which the player was playing in the seasons he was 12 to 23 years old, with the first 4 seasons weighing less (5% instead of 10% of the total) compared to the last 8 seasons. Because Ajax is a training club, the FIFA regulation regularly caused Ajax to receive money, and we will include these in our overviews. Until now this is limited to the current season and you will find at the bottom of the overview with all transfers of the current season also an overview of transfers involving former Ajax players including the amount for the solidarity contribution, where applicable. We also plan to show this in the per season transfer overviews, where applicable.
