In the First Division West I competition Ajax started reasonable, but had a weaker period halfway the competition. Not withstanding a good series of matches, DWS stayed out of reach and the last competition game against DWS, which was won by Ajax, was no longer relevant for the outcome of the competition. Ajax became second one point behind new division champion DWS. DWS subsequently became third in the champions competition behind the new domestic champion Feyenoord.
Ajax participated in the Dutch Cup that was played from March onwards. In the first round Ajax beat KVV, in the second round Ajax continued as away playing team after a draw against ZFC, in the third HRC was too strong.
Ajax played a large part of the season with the same basis, especially in defense and on midfield there were almost no changes: Gerrit Keizer (goalkeeper), Jan van Diepenbeek and Dick Been (defense), Ko Loois, Wim Anderiesen Sr. and Jan Schubert (midfield and stopper spil), Henk Blomvliet, Rinus Bijl, Piet van Reenen, Tjeerd Aukema, and Erwin van Wijngaarden (attack). Wim Anderiesen Sr. was captain. Jan Gerritsen (6), Jan Stam (4), Gerrit Fischer (4) en Kratel ter Horst (4) were also used in attack, and with Bijl, Aukema and Blomvliet performing well as central attacking trio, Piet van Reenen was not always sure of his position in central attack. The following players also played official matches: Gerrit Gischler (1), Bob ten Have (1), Jan de Jong (1), Joop Steunenberg (1), and Piet Weppner (1). There is little known about who played during the three Dutch cup matches.
Jack Reynolds was the trainer.
In a newspaper report after 16 of the 18 rounds a list of goalscorers was published. According to this list Bijl (10) and Van Wijngaarden (9) had scores one goal less than according to our statistics and Aukema (7) and Schubert (1) one goal more.
In the previous seasons more and more articles appeared in newspapers that indicating on the rising tension in Europe. This season an article appeared that Ajax rented out the stadium for an event of a youth branch of the NSB. Ajax and Blauw-Wit were also confronted with a German official during their yearly eastern tournament who travelled with the Austrian Admira and demanded shortly for the first match that the Germany Nazi Flag was raised. Ajax and Blauw-Wit first refused, but later conceded as the tournament would have been a failure without Admira.
At the end of the season in June Ajax made a trip to Latvia and Lithuania to play several friendly matches.
