News

Dutch Competition

Ajax started quite weak with the First Division West I competition and later had a better period, but was only able to finish 4th place, 9 points from the new division champion SVV. SVV went on to win the champions competition as well.

Beker

Ajax was eliminated in the 3rd round by 2nd division club Emma. Ajax had been able to beat UVV and QSC and progressed in an extra round via a 1-1 draw away against HFC Haarlem.

Lineup

The following players were used a lot: Bep Leentvaar (goalkeeper), Jan Potharst and Ger Beumer (defense), Joop Stoffelen, Jany van der Veen and Cor van der Hart (midfield and stopper spil), Gerrit Fischer, Rinus Michels, Theo Brokmann Jr., Ge van Dijk, and Guus Dräger (attack). Joop Stoffelen was captain. Especially on the defense and midfield there was some variation both in composition and positions. Amongst others Cor van der Hoeven (6) played few games on midfield and Jansen (3) as leftback. Gerard Bruins (11) played regularly in attack, besides the normal quintet. After many years Gerrit Keizer on goal Bep Leentvaar took over, but Jaap Kelderman (3) and Anton van der Heide (1) also got a chance. The following players also played official matches: Ad Waldeck (3) and Maurits Boonstoppel (1).

Coach

Walter Crook was the trainer.

Iceland Trip

After the season ended Ajax made a trip to Iceland in July to play several matches, but there are no details about this trip known to us.
